Oxford: Margie Wilkins Dean Bumgarner, died Wednesday July 9, 2014 in Granville Medical Center. She was a native of Granville County, the widow of the late William T. Dean and Herman A. Bumgarner. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church serving for many years as a choir member, sunday school teacher, and assistant pianist. She was inv olved in the founding of the Berea Fire Department, a past member of the Granville County Cattleman's Association. she was a retired state employee at Butner and was a homemaker. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday July 12, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. in Mt. Zion Baptist Church by the Reverend Eddie Mauldin and Reverend Keith Williams. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Surviving are her daughters, Mary Ellen Johnson Kinney of Ayden, Margie Rose Bumgarner Clark of Charlotte; sons, Jerry W. Dean of Rougemont and Wilson Thomas Dean of Missouri; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, Brindell and Archie Wilkins and grandson William Daniel. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:30 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. prior to the services in the fellowship hall of the church.
