Phyllis Parker Mastrocola, 88, died peacefully ineer home on August 31, 2011. Phyllis was born in Smithfield, NC to Agnes and James Parker on neember 16, 1923. Mrs. Mastrocola graduated from Smithfield High School and the Uneersity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While at Chapel Hill, she was a member of the Playmakers, aneenjoyed theater her whole life. Professionally, she was a mathematician in the aerospace industry in California, a teacher, a car dealer, and many other diverse professions. She loved meeting people aneexploring new places. She was always elegant and stylish, a good conversationalist and a great listener. An avid bridge player, she continued to enjoy a good card game until the end of her life. Phyllis is survived by her son James Donlon and his son Shamus Donlon of Camarillo, CA; niece Jane Pate and her husband Prayson with their children Harrison Pate, Ransom Pate and Natasha Pate all of Durham, NC; and sister-in-law Mae Parker Boles of Colfax, NC. Phyllis was predeceased by her sister Jane Parker Harris; brother Daniel L. Parker; and sister Sara Elizabeth Parker. A service of remembrance will be offered at 1:00 PM oneednesday, September 7, 2011 from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 810 West Chapel Hill Street, Durham, NC 27701 with Fr. Dan McLellan, OFM, presiding. A brief reception will immediately follow. Services will then conclude with burial at the Historic Oakwood Cemetery, 701 Oakwood Ave, Raleigh.
