Alfred David Grainger, Jr.

Alfred David Grainger Jr. died Tuesday in Erwineehabilitationeenter following a long period of declining health. A Durham native, David was born June 25, 1959. He graduated from Council Christian Academy and received degrees from Louisburg College and Durham Technical Community College. David worked for 20 years at the Durham Herald-Sun as the maneement information systems technical maneer. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church Journey Fellowship for many years. David will be remembered for his excellent technical and computer skills and his enjoyment of CB radios. He was devoted to his church and relied on his deep faith through his many struggles. David is survived by his wife of 18 years, Cathy Bradley Grainger; a half sister, Annette Johnson of Mebane; his unee, Charles T. Smith Jr. of Durham; seven first cousins; and a special child and family friend, Ivy Lynn Hight. He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred David and Maxine Marie Smith Grainger. A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service with the Rev. Dr. Harry Byrd officiating. Friends may visit following services.
