Alfred F. Talton

May 27, 1926 — January 25, 2022

Raleigh, NC – Alfred Fleming “Al” Talton, 95, loving and beloved husband of Leah Windham Talton crossed the bar on Tuesday, January 25, 2022.

Al was born in Oxford, NC to the late Isabel Fleming Talton and Moses Garland Talton, the youngest of five brothers that included Moses Garland Jr., Ben Hays, Willis Arthur, and Charles Francis. He served his country with pride in the United States Navy aboard a PCE (Patrol Class Escort) during WWII, at this time his four brothers were also enlisted in service and deployed. After his service he attended ECTC (East Carolina) and finished his degree at Wake Forest. He then went on to work in Raleigh for the State of North Carolina., then with Carolina Power and Light in Sumter, SC where he met and married his wife of more than 65 years. Later he and Leah lived in Dunn, Whiteville, Morehead City, and Raleigh, NC where he retired and spent the remaining years of his lifetime. After he retired, he enjoyed working for NCSU sports as an usher at Reynolds Coliseum and Carter Finley Stadium, especially whenever the Demon Deacons came to visit. He loved attending his church and joining in song with the congregation, most recently at Hillyer Memorial Christian Church in Raleigh.

Surviving to cherish many memories and funny granddaddy “isms” are his wife Leah, son Alfred Jr. and wife Dawn, three grandsons that live near; Fleming, Ben and wife Lacy, Neil, and great granddaughter, Vivian.
