Allan Talmage Preyer III, 65, of Chapel Hill, died neember 6, 2018, surrounded by his family.?? Allan was born May 21, 1953 in Greensboro, North Carolina. He was the son of Allan Talmage Preyer, Jr. and Margaret Glenn Preyer. A Tar Heel ???born and bred???, Allan grew up in Greensboro and Durham. Following his grandfather and father, Allan graduated from Woodberry Forest School in Orange, Virginia, where he excelled academically and athletically, as an outstanding lacrosse player. Allan graduated from The Uneersity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1975. At UNC, Allan was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon, and served as president of the fraternity his senior year. After graduation, Allaneegan a successful career with Burlington Industries ineew York and Greensboro. After Burlington, Allan had a long career as an accomplished sales and marketineexecutive, and recently as a free-lance writer. Allan was preceded ineeath by his parents, and his sister Katherine Preyer DeMatteo. He is survived by his wife of twenty-two years, Patricia Curlee Preyer, and his children, Jacqueline Glenn Preyer and Allan Talmage Preyer IV. Allan was a strong, devoted and loving father who was enormously proud of his children???s character and accomplishments. Allan is also survived by his brother, Johneeter Preyer, of Chapel Hill, his wife, Joanie, his niece, Lacy, and nephew, Pike. Allan will always be remembered by his family and friends for his brilliant wit, sense of humor, and intellect. His kineess, generous spirit and strong social conscience will be missed by everyone who knew Allan. A celebration of Allan???s life will be held Saturday, neember 10 at 2:00 PM at Uneersity Presbyterian Church, 209 East Franklin Street, Chapel Hill, with the Reverend Margaret LaMotte Torrence officiating.
