Alma Loyd Blackley

Franklinton: Alma Catherine Loyd Blackley, age 82 died Thursday, August 7, 2014. A native of Franklin County, Alma was the daughter of the late Dorsey and Lucy Dean Loyd and widow of the late Herbert M. Blackley. She was a member of Banks United Methodist where she served as treasurer of the Parsonage Fund, a member of the G.G.'s organization and church choir. Alma retired from the Alcohol Rehabilitation Center in Butner and was an avid Tarheel fan. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 10, 2014 from Banks United Methodist Church by Rev. Gina Miller. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 PM prior to the service in the fellowship hall. At other times at the home. Surviving are her daughters, Melanie Blackley (Rick Cooper) of Charlotte, Sherry Strickland (Rick) of Durham, Melba Knott (Tonie) of Wilton; sisters, Joyce Mitchell of Youngsville and Linda Piaski of Raleigh.
