Alton E. Hilton, age 75, of Oxford, NC, went to his heavenly home on November 13, 2021, at Rex Hospital. He was born in Granville County on April 4, 1946, to his late parents, Elmer Cecil Hilton and Mabel Myers Hilton, and lived on the family farm his entire life.
Alton was a kind and generous man who devoted his life to God, his family, and his church. He was a life-long member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, a choir member, and a member of many committees. He was the hub of family communication, regularly visiting and calling to check on the welfare of his family and friends. He was generous with his time and resources to help others in need. Alton loved and missed his departed family, and he created flower arrangements for each season to remember and honor his many loved ones interred at Mt. Zion. Alton was employed by John Umstead Hospital where he was a nurse until his retirement. He was an avid Carolina Tar Heels fan, and enjoyed watching football games with his grandnephew, Joseph Duke.
Alton is survived by his brothers, James Clifton Hilton of Oxford and Harold Lee Hilton (Kate Brady) of Oxford, his niece Faye Whitt Woodlief (Steve), and many cherished extended family and friends.
Alton was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Edith H. Whitt and his brothers, Roy, Virgil, Thurman, Melvin, and his twin, Atlee Hilton.
