Ann W. Gary, age 86, resident of 1201 N. Gregson Street, Durham, NC, died Friday evening, neember 28, 2008 at the Hospice at the Meadowlands in Hillsborough, NC. Born in Falls City, Texas, Mrs. Gary was the daughter of the late Edmund Henry Wehmann and Normania Poth Wehmann. She grew up on a farm in Poth, TX. Her life span included the Great Depression, WWII and her life in Durham. She met during WWII the then Capt. Joseph N. Gary, Jr., now deceased. They moved to Durham and developed the Gary Rental Company which has been in business for over 40 years. She and her husband had a strong partnership. Ann was extremely dedicated to her family and she enjoyed the beach. She had a green thumb and shared her garden with neighbors. Ann was a member of Watts Street Baptist Church, the Tillman Bible Class and the Durham Women's Club. Mrs. Gary will be remembered as a generous, loving and kind person. Surviving are two daughters; Deborah Brogden and husband, Blackwell of Raleigh and Pamela G. Skillman and husband, Robert of Burlington; a son, Joseph N. Gary III of Durham; a brother, George Weldoneehmann and wife, Joyce of Shiner, TX; 5 grandchildren: Crystal Ann Skillman, Shawn Sherwood Skillman, Christopher Robert Skillman, Meredith Myers and Heather Brooks and two great-grandchildren: William Myers and Graham Brooks and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service will be held 12:00 Noon on Monday, December 1, 2008 at the Watts Street Baptist Church, Durham, NC. The Rev. T. Melvin Williams and Rev. Diane Hill will preside. Burial will be in Montlawneemetery, Raleigh. Friends may visit Sunday from 4 to 6 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home. Memorials in Mrs. Gary's nee may be made to the Watts Street Baptist Church, 800 Watts Street, Durham, NC 27701. Much thanks to the staff at the Hospice Center.
