CHAPEL HILL, NC Anna Frank Strosneer DuBose ???Franee??? Franee Patton After 86 well-lived years of life, Franee DuBose died oneecember 19, 2017. She was born oneebruary 6, 1931 to Dr. Charles Franklin Strosneer and Anna Bailey Lawrence Grimes Strosneer in Goldsboro, North Carolina. She lived life to the fullest loving her Lord, family and friends. Franee graduated from Goldsboro High in 1948. She was thrilled to be need The Homecoming Sweetheart by the football team. After high school, Franee attended St. Mary???s Jr. College. She was in the graduating class of 1950. She met many life-long friends at Saint Mary???s. Franee graduated from the Uneersity of North Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1952. Franee and her family spent many wonderful summers in Morehead City, NC. There she met her future husband and soulmate, David St. Pierre Du Bose, Jr. (Pete). Franee and Pete married oneeptember 4, 1953 and had five children. They loved spending time with friends and family in Morehead, Goldsboro and Meadowmont Farm. Franee was known for her barefoot cooking late night porch dinners. She neer met a stranger and always saw the good in others. She loved to play tennis, bridge aneentertain. Franee and Pete travelled many times to the Bahamas on skin diving and fishing adventures. Franee was such a positive vibrant person of great faith. She was dedicated to her Lord and community. She served as President of the Durham Junior League. She was a member of The Hill House Advisory Committee. Hill House was the home of John Sprunt Hill (Pete???s grandfather) and now serves as the Junior League of Durham Headquarters. She was Director of St. Stephen???s Episcopal pre-school where she developed the two-year old class. Franee served as a leader in St. Stephen???s ministry. She was also Senior Warden of St. Stephen???s Episcopal Church. Franee is warmly remembered for her neerous Duke Hospital ???Balloon??? visits through the St. Stephen???s Hospital Ministry. She served as President of the Saint Mary???s Alumnae Association and Member of the Board of Trustees. She was honeed to receive Saint Mary???s Outstanding Alumnae Award. Franee was also a active member of the North Carolina Society of Colonial Dames, Durham committee. In 1992 Franee, with the love and support of her husband Pete, founded Caring House. Caring House is a home for cancer patients receiving treatment at the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center. Caring House was Franee???s dream. With support from many of Franee and Pete???s friends, Caring House celebrated its 25th anneersary in 2017. Later in life, after Pete died, Franee found love again at the age of 84. She married James R. Patton, Jr. oneer 85h birthday. Jim, his family and caregiver, Pat Grovenor, brought her much happiness. Preceding her ineeath was her devoted husband, David St. Pierre, DuBose, Jr. (Pete) who died April 19, 2014. Surviving are her children: Anna DuBose Doughton and husband James Horton Doughton (Bud), David St. Pierre DuBose III (Peter) and wife Evelyn Hoover, Charles Franklin DuBose and wife Sally Peters, Valinda DuBose Coates and husband Dr. Gerald Lee Coates, Jr. , Nancy DuBose Greenway and husband Garland Daniel Greenway. Also surviving are her cherished and adored eleven grandchildren: James Horton Doughton, Jr.(Lisl Kuutti) Anna Lawrence Doughton, David St. Pierre DuBose IV (Petey), Sarah Robinson DuBose, Elizabeth Porcher DuBose (Blissie), Charles Drennen DuBose (Drennen), Gerald Lee Coates II (Jerry), Anderson DuBose Coates, Garland Daniel Greenway III, Christian Lawrence Greenway and William Hill Greenway. A private interment will be held at the family cemetery the morning of Wednesday, December 27, 2017. A memorial service celebrating Franee???s life will take place at 12:00 noon oneednesday, December 27, at the Presbyterian Church of the Good Shepard, 3741 Garrett Rd., Durham, NC 27705.
