Anne Broadhead

Anne Royal Chappell Watson Broadhead, 87, of Durham died Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at her residence at Durham Regent. Born April 7, 1927 to the late Wayland and Mary Graves Chappell in Durham, she was a life resident. Anne Royal was a 1945 graduate of Durham High School. Anne Royal married Walter I. Watson. She and her family were associated with Ephesus Baptist Church in Durham and Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church. She retired in 1986, after 47 years, as a secretary from Duke Uneersity. She loved square dancing, which she belonged to a local club. She loved her family aneenjoyed participating in all their lives. Beside her parents, she was preceded ineeath by her husband, Walter I. Watson and a sister, Mary Graves Tilley. Surviving are: her husband, Alfred Broadhead; a son ???Watson??? of Chapel Hill; two daughters, Wendy Watson of Durham, Donna Slaughter and husband Bill of Butner; a brother, Jack Chappell of Charlotte; two sisters, Diana Griffith and family of TN and Nancy Watson and family of Creedmoor; five grandchildren, Jonathan Burgess and wife, Vesta of CA, Aneew Slaughter and wife, Charlotte of Butner, Victor Slaughter of Pembroke, Megan and Cedar Watson of FL; three great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Ava Slaughter, and Ryan Burgess. The family will be present 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 West Main St., Durham, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at The Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, Durham.
