Anee Laurie Bradley Morris Wilkinson passed peacefully from her earthly life at her home in Prospect Hill, NC on Sunday, 14 October 2012. Anee Laurie was born in Chalybeate Springs, NC in 1914, the 5th child of Willie Bradley aneernie Carpenter. She spent her early life in Chalybeate Springs but moved to Durham in 1927 and her family later built a home on Long Street. Wheneer parents died one day apart in 1932, Anee Laurie, then only 18 years old, became responsible for her younger brothers Odell and Jerald who were still living at home. She worked at a variety of jobs for several years aneeventually married Ector Morris in 1943. This marriage produced daughter Susan Carpenter Morris and William Morris. Several years after Ector's death in 1964, Anee Laurie was introduced by a mutual friend to James Clair Wilkinson of Prospect Hill, NC and they married in neember 1971. She lived the remainder of her life in Prospect Hill. Before retiring in 1980, she was employed for 17 years by Duke Uneersity Medical Center in Durham. She and James Clair spent maneenjoyable days fishing and relaxing on Oak Island during the 1970's and 80's. James Clair passed away in 2010. Anee Laurie outlived all of her siblings: Brothers Leo, Howard, Dewey, Odell, Jerald, Graham, and Conroy and infant sister Ruby. Anee Laurie also outlived her daughter Susan. She is survived by her son William Morris of Durham, stepson James Wilkinson Jr. Sheila of Prospect Hill, stepdaughter Anne Bassett of Durham, grandsons Billy Wilkinson and Aneew Wilkinson Holly of Mebane, grandson Richard Solomon Savanna of Newport News, VA, granddaughter Suzanne Allen Brian of Mebane, great granddaughters Isabel and Caroline Allen, nephews Thomas Bradley of Durham and Brock Bradley and family of Butner, cousins Shirley Bradley and family of Raleigh, Kenneth Bradley, Richard Bradley, and Leo Mike Bradley of Raleigh and Rebecca Bradley of Dillard, GA. Anee Laurie's Christian faith was an important part of her entire life. She was an active member of Griers Presbyterian Church in Prospect Hill for more than 40 years and an active member of Northgate Presbyterian Church in Durham for many years before that. Until recently, she was active with Esther's Water Walkers at the Trianee SportsPlex in Hillsborough and thoroughly enjoyed the company of her fellow water walkers. Anee Laurie had a life-long love of plants, flowers, and shrubs and always enjoyed working in the yard and having a summer garden. She was a skilled dress maker, seamstress, artist, horsewoman, craftsperson, and Girl Scout Leader during various periods of her life. Anee Laurie was also an enthusiastic traveler. One of her most memorable trips was driving cross-county to California with her daughter Susan in 1968 and driving to Key West with her good frieneetta Lee Terrell. She also visited New England and Nova Scotia, Mexico, Bermuda, England, France, Italy, France, Spain, Germany, and Israel. Anee Laurie was an inspiration to her family and all who knew her. Her strength of faith and spirit were exceptional. The family wishes to express its grateful appreciation to all of Anee Laurie's home healthcare providers: Doris Gwynn, Doris Butts, Margaret Crouch, Sylvia Jeffries, Lee Anneelly, and Crystal Mise for their tireless efforts and the loving care they gave Anee Laurie; they are all dear to the entire family. The family is also grateful to the staff of Hospice & Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell for their help to the family and for making Anee Laurie's last days comfortable. The family is being assisted by Hall Wynn Funeral Service of Durham. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 PM on October 16 at the Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 West Main Street, Durham. A second visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:45 AM, October 17 at Griers Presbyterian Church, 569 Griers Church Road, Leasburg, NC. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM at Griers. Interment will follow at 3 PM in Maplewood Cemetery, Section 4, 1621 Duke Uneersity Road, Durham. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation at P.O.
