Albert Parham "A.P." James, age 91, died neember 5 at his home in Durham, with his wife of 67 years by his side. Born in Roxboro on May 27, 1920, A.P. graduated from Roxboro High School and attended Elon Uneersity for two years prior to enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1941. After serving for four years as a radioman, he completed his college education, receiving a degree in Business Administration from U.N.C. Chapel Hill. A.P. married the love of his life, Sarah Maynard, March 7, 1944. A.P. was employed as an accountant with American Suppliers, retiring after 35 years of service. He was a proud member of Asbury Uneed Methodist Church where he sang in the Chancel Choir and the Senior Choir, served as president of the Ralph Mitchell Class and coached neerous boys' basketball teams. He also represented Asbury as a voluneer at Urban Ministries for many years. A.P. was an avid golfer aneenjoyed playing at Willowhaven, where he made two hole-in-ones! He especially enjoyed sharing his love of sports with young people, coaching little league baseball and basketball. A.P. is survived by his loving wife, Sarah Maynard James, many nieces and nephews as well as his McKaig "godchildren." A service of death and resurrection will be held at Asbury Uneed Methodist Church 2:00 PM Wednesday. Friends may visit beginning at 1:00 in the church sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made Asbury Uneed Methodist Church, 806 Clarendon Street, Durham, 27705.
