CHAPEL HILL: Archie Wallace Copeland, 81, died Tuesday at home following a chronic illness. He was born October 4, 1935 in Raleigh to Archie Wallace and Anee (Hinnant) Copeland. Archie was a graduate of NC State Uneersity and later earned the MBA degree from UNC-Chapel Hill. He served in the US Army for 2 years. Archie spent a lengthy career in student affairs at UNC and was Director of the Student Union from 1987-92. A dedicated churchman, Archie was a longtime parishioner of the Chapel of the Cross, where he was a member of the altar guild. He was proud to have been a voluneer with UNC Hospice. Archie was a board member of the Trianee AIDS Fellowship and a member of the Order of the Golden Fleece. The funeral will be 11:00 AM Saturday from the Chapel of the Cross, with the Rev. Tambria E. Lee officiating. Archie will be entombed at Raleigh Memorial Park. Gifts in Archie???s memory may be made to Chapel of the Cross (altar guild) or to UNC Hospice.
