Augusta Reece Hockaday

Augusta Reece Hockaday died at Western NC Baptist Home in Asheville, NC at the age of 93. She was borneeb. 1, 1929 in Yadkin County, NC to James Thadeus and Nina Danes Reece. Augusta received her education at Mars Hill College and became an educator for Durham County Schools and was also very involved with many community and civic activities. For 30 years she was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Durham where her late husband Rev. Dennis Hockaday was minister. A graveside service will be at Boonville Baptist Church in Boonville, NC on March 20th at 1 pm. Augusta is under the care of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service in Durham, NC.
