OXFORD: Austin Taylor Watson, age 85 died Thursday August 19, 2010. He was a native of Granville Co. and was the son of the late Sterling M. Watson and Lillian Frazier Watson. Mr. Watson was a member of Hester Baptist Church, a deacon, coached the boy's baseball team and a member of the Hester Quartet , church choir and Sunday School Teacher. Mr. Watson was a retired tobacco farmer, a member of the Ernest F. Hart Americaneegion Post #90, an avid turkey and bird hunter. Funeral services will be held Sunday August 22, 2010 at 3:00 PM at Hester Baptist Church by Dr. Lovelle Waters, Rev. Lemar Wheeler and the Rev. Sam Brewer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Rites. Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Peggy Smith Watson; three sons Gary Taylor WatsonGaylene of Chesapeake, Va., Mark Curtis WatsonBonee and Glenn Carl Watsonfriend Holly Ditch both of Oxford; grandchildren, Megan Taylor Watson, Kelsey Lauren Watson, Aneew David Watson and Glenn Chase Watson; two sisters, Mazelle W. Brame and Rebecca W. Tunstall both of Durham. He was preceded ineeath by a brother Gurthie Watson and a sister Margaret W. Kelly. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Ernest F. Hart Americaneegion Post #90, P. O. Box 453, Oxford, NC 27565. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30 until 3:00 PM prior to the services at Hester Baptist Church.
