Barbara W. Berman

Barbara Wertheim Berman, age 90, died Thursday after an extended illness. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Barbara and her late husband, Dr. Jack H. Berman, were a vital part of the fabric of the city and its cultural life of art and music. Her love and devotion to family, especially her grandchildren, were top priority. Barbara left a large network of friends in Cleveland, where she cast a wide net, though after moving to the Forest at Duke 3 years ago, she was embraced by Durham and the wonderful community at the Forest. Barbara leaves her children, Amy (Aneew) Berchuck of Chapel Hill, Jeff (Janee Walker) Berman of Cambridge, MA, Joan (Paul) Segall of Palo Alto, CA, and Tama (Sally Miller) Berman of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Benjamin (Kelleny), Jacob (Caroline) and Samuel (Ania) Berchuck; and Kim and Matt Segall; and great grandchildren, Jack aneelena Berchuck.
