Benjamin Franklin Wilson, age 83, died on January 12, 2021 at his home with family. He was born to the late Francis Coley Wilson and Ruby Odell Wilson on May 10, 1937 in Granville County.
Ben was a lifelong resident of Granville County and married to Montie Lou Bridgers on June 26, 1960. He was employed at Oxford Dry Cleaners for 35 years. After his retirement, he drove a school bus for Granville County School System for 10 years. Ben was a member of Delrayno Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and Brotherhood president. He enjoyed fellowship and exercising with other seniors at the Granville County Senior Center.
Ben is survived by his wife of 60 years, Montie Lou; by his son and family, Kenneth Wilson (Lycia), Kenneth’s children, Jake and Bethany, her husband, Phillip, and their children, Ariyanna, Carter, and Cheyenne. He is also survived by his daughter and family, Wanda Clay (Jamie); their children, Benjamin Bruce (fiancée, Pratt) and Sissy. He has a brother, Donald Wilson (Nell) of Clarksville, VA, and his aunts, Elsie Wilson of Eden, NC and Ruth White of Oxford, NC. He will be missed by all, including his sisters-in-law, Faye Partin and Nancy Wilson of Oxford, NC; Ruth Bridgers of Maryland; brothers-in-law, Wayne Wilbourne of Clarksville, VA and nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends too numerous to name.
Ben was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Marvin and JT; and his sisters, Ann and Jean.
A graveside service for Ben will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Meadowview Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Joe Don Copper and Rev. D.L. Paige. Please practice social distancing and masks as appropriate. You may visit with the family at the conclusion of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ben’s honor to the Delrayno Church Brotherhood, 1315 College Street, Oxford, NC, 27565; the Granville County Senior Center, 107 Lanier Street, Oxford, NC 27565 or to the Granville Rural Volunteer Fire Department at 6619 Highway 15 N, Oxford, NC 27565.
