Betty Adams Ertell, affectioneely known as ???Nana???, died unexpectedly yet peacefully ineer Parkwood home Thursday, February 19, 2015. She was 77 years old. A long-time resident of Lowe???s Grove Community, Nana was one of eleven children born to the late Jasper and Hazel Cheek Adams. Nana was an avid sports fan and ineer younger years she played on a fast pitch softball team. She was not only a loving mother and grandmother to her family but to couneess people throughout the area. Nana was an extraordinary woman who made a lasting impression oneeople of all ages; always lending a helping hand to those ineeed. She thoroughly enjoyed cooking and her table was always covered with delicious home-made foods of all types. No oneever left Nana???s house hungry. In addition to her annual Christmas Eve gatherings, Nana served as chairperson for the Parkwood Christmas parade for the past teneears. During basketball season she could be found in front of her favorite TV cheering for her beloved Tar Heels. Nana is survived by her two loving and devoted children, Greg Ertell and wife, Lisa, of Durham; and Jackie Ertell Brown, also of Durham; her two grandsons, Brandon Brown and wife, Rene, of Durham; and Breneey Brown of Pittsboro; and six siblings, Dorothy Adams, Joann Dixon, Marvin Adams, Wanda Cook, Felton ???Pocky??? Adams and Nancy Wood. She was preceded ineeath by her husband, George. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday, February 23, 2015 at Lowe???s Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Gerald Goodwin presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday afternoon from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service in Durham. Flowers are acceptable.
