Betty Jane De Sherbinin

Betty Jane de Sherbinin, of Pittsboro, NC, and formerly of Chatham, NJ, passed away oneeptember 27, 2013 after a brief illness; she was 86. Born in White Plains, NY to the late James aneevelyn Quillen Callan, Betty spent her childhood in Fairfield, CT. She graduated from Roosevelt Nursing School ineew York City, in 1948, and began a career as a public health nurse. In 1950, she married Robert Bob de Sherbinin. She loved her family, the beach, reading books, playing bridge and music. Betty had recently retired from singing with the Fearrington Village Voices. She was a great soup maker, enjoyed a good laugh and was a friend to many. Betty is predeceased by her husband, Robert; survived by her daughters, Lynne de Sherbinin, of North Carolina and Jan McIntosh Bruce and grandson, neel, of Pennsylvania; a brother, James Callan Rinda of Florida; and several nieces & nephews.
