Betty Jane Duke

Durham ??? Betty Jane Duke, long-time resident of Durham, NC, passed away Thursday neember 24, 2016 at the Duke Hock Family Pavilion surrounded by the love of her family and caring staff. Born to the late Marion and Ruth Jones in 1941 in Bryan, TX, Jane graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School and later from the Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, TN where she met and married Jim Duke, the love of her life, in 1962. Jane worked over 30 years for Duke Hospital in various administrative positions until her retirement in 2003. After retiring, she enjoyed playing cards and lunching with her dear friends, traveling with Jim, and playing lively games of hide and seek with her grandchildren. In addition to her husband of 54 years, Jane is survived by her sons, Jamie Duke of Cary, NC (and wife Lisa) and Jonathan Duke of Raleigh, NC (and wife Sheryl); her 4 grandchildren, Cannon, Jackson, Aineey, and Brian Duke, all of whom make their home in the Trianee of NC (a blessing she frequently need); and her brother, Jim Jones of Bryan, TX (and wife Wilma). She was preceded ineeath by her brother, Bill Jones, and sisters, Cindy Vance and Dale (Pudgy) Sawyer. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Duke Hospice Hock Family Pavilion at 4023 North Roxboro Street??? Durham, NC 27704. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday December 3 at 2pm at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, Durham, NC. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 1pm.
