Bobby Cole Couch, 74, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, September 12th at Hock Family Pavilion. Bobby was born oneebruary 3, 1945 in Durham, NC to Oscar Aaron Couch and Alpha Mae Cole Couch. Bobby attended Hillsboro High School in Orange County, NC. He started his career driving oil trucks at the age of 18 ineeptember 1963 at Couch Oil Company. He retired from Couch Oil Company in April 2017.?? Bobby delivered many gallons of fuel oil and diesel fuel to many residents, companies and contractors in Durham and surrounding counees and then started the LP Gas Division in 1989 and continued in the same manner, serving many loyal customers and making many friends along the way, as well as working alongside several family members in day-to-day operations. Bobby was a loving husband and is survived by his wife of 32 years, Shirley W. Couch, his daughter, Lisa Couch Nichols and husband, Russell, grandchildreneeric and Abby Nichols, step-daughter, Varonda Reynolds and husband Jeff, step-grandchildren, Charles Stewart, III and wife, Christie and Katlyneeynolds. He is survived by his brother-in-law, William T. Dorrity.??He is also survived by a nephew, Steve Couch and two nieces, Janee Thompson and husband, Tim and Cindy Dorrity. He is survived by a great-nephew, Cole Thompson, step-great-nephew, Ryan Thompson and wife, Jenneer, and their children, Tyler and Taylor. Bobby was predeceased by his parents, Oscar and Mae Couch, a brother, Carlton O. Couch and his wife, Margaret W. Couch and a sister, Frances C. Dorrity. Bobby was a life-time member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church on Old NC 10 in Orange County, NC. Bobby neer met a stranger, loved a good conversation, had a lot of wit, catchy ???sayings??? and always had an aneer for anyone whether you requested it or not. He had nicknees for many people and things and we neer knew where he came up these ???nees??? but it always made you laugh and made sense! He was full of life, trustworthy, faithful, loving and kind. He ran into someone he knew everywhere he went, whether locally or as far away as the mountains or the beach or even another state. Bobby knew a little bit or a whole lot about everything and could fix anything. Bobby loved the NC mountains, especially West Jefferson, where he spent a lot of time with Shirley and their beloved dogs. He loved sitting on their front porch watching and listening to the many hummingbirds that would visit their feeders. Bobby grew up on Highway 70, Hillsborough Road and worked on Hillsborough Road. He traveled many miles up and down that road every day of his life, making a straight trek back and forth from home to work every day. Bobby was a NASCAR member while racing with Ervin Rigsbee for several years. He was an avid race fan, with his favorite driver being Dale Earnhardt, Sr and inevitably, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Flowers are acceptable or donations canee made ineemory of Bobby to Hock Family Pavilion, 4023 N. Roxboro Street, Durham, NC 27704. A funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 17th at 11:00 AM at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, Durham, NC. Burial rites will follow at Mt. Hermon Baptist Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, September 16th between 6-8 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, Durham, NC. Bobby's family would like to thank all the Doctors, Nurses, CNAs aneemployees at Hock Family Pavilion, family and friends that visited, called and texted during Bobby's last few weeks here with us. We greatly appreciate your love, support and many uplifting prayers.
