Bonnell Layton Hilliard Morris

Mrs. Bonnell Layton Hilliard Morris, 87, died Thursday morning at Duke Uneersity Medical Center. Mrs. Morris was born and raised in Durham, NC, to the late Charlie P. and Hattie Horne Layton. She graduated from Bragtown High School. She married Charles C. Hilliard in 1946, whom preceded her ineeath in 1960. In 1963, she married William B. Morris, whom preceded her ineeath in 2009. She was employed with Blue Cross/Blue Shield as a supervisor, retiring after 37 years of service. Mrs. Morris enjoyed traveling, line dancing, and square dancing, and belonged to the Red Hat Society. She was an active member of Rose of Sharon Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Golden Roses Senior Group. She is survived by her sons, Wesley G. Hilliard of Durham, Keith A. Hilliard and his wife, Judy, of Durham; daughter, Tricia M. Stillman, and her husband, Warren, of Wake Forest; grandsoneethan P. Norman; and step-grandchildren, Brandy Grzybowski and Ashley Stillman. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Jeff McCarthy along with guest speaker Pastor James W. O???Hara (retired). Burial will follow at Woodlawneemorial Park. The family will receive visitors Monday afternoon, from 5-7pm at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 W. Main Street, Durham, and at the home after the service on Tuesday at 5pm.
