Brenda Huff Young, age 77 of Roxboro, North Carolina, passed away on August 27, 2024, in Durham County, North Carolina. She entered this world on June 21, 1947, in Granville County, North Carolina, where her spirit began to blossom, touching the lives of many around her.
Brenda carved out a meaningful career as an Inspector with Northern Telecom in the phone industry—a role that not only showcased keen attention to detail but also her unwavering commitment to excellence. Her professional achievements were complemented by her nurturing demeanor, creating a legacy of kindness that will forever be remembered by those fortunate enough to have known her.
In her cherished personal life, Brenda found her greatest joy in her family, she was a true mama bear. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Payton Emory Young, who stood by her side through the joys and challenges of life. Her daughter, Frances Wheeler, carries on her spirit, alongside her son-in-law, William Wheeler, and her granddaughters, Christina, Tiffany, and Anna who she loved dearly. Brenda's son, Ronnie Young, shares in the familial bond, bound together by memories, laughter, and unbreakable ties of love. She will be missed dearly by her companion, Leroy and all her grand dogs.
Brenda’s connections extended beyond her immediate family. She leaves behind her sisters—Julia Huff Wheeler, Inez Huff Wilson, and Sally Frances Slaughter—each carrying fragments of her vibrant spirit in their hearts. Their shared stories will echo through time, weaving together a tapestry of Sisterhood filled with love, laughter, and enduring support.
She is predeceased by her mother, Mattie May West Huff, her father, Horace George Huff, Sr., her brother, Horace Huff, Jr., and sister, Linda Christine Cooper. These family members welcomed her home with open arms.
Brenda's life was a celebration of the love she poured into her family and friends. Her kindness and welcoming nature created a sanctuary for many, her home a haven where hearts were always welcomed, and stories were shared. The extended family and friends who remain are too numerous to name, yet they each hold cherished memories of the light she brought into their lives.
Arrangements for Brenda will be held at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan on Friday, August 30, 2024, with a service in the Chapel at 2:00 pm and a visitation for family and friends from 1:00 -2:00 pm with Reverend William Wheeler officiating.
