Brooke Elizabeth Hester Thompson, 34, passed away peacefully after a 7 year courageous battle with ACC (adrenal cortical carcinoma). Brooke was passionee about living life to the fullest. Being diagneed with a rare cancer would steal most people???s joy; however, Brooke didn???t let cancer win. Brooke was an advocate, encouraged and friend to many people diagneed with ACC. Brooke neer met a stranger and had a sense of humor and smile that would light up any room; she was always the life of the party! Brooke graduated from Southern High School and Watts School of Nursing in Durham. Brooke was a nurse at Duke Hospital until she no longer could physically work. Ineer spare time, she enjoyed going to the beach, listening to music, reading and watching movies; but most of all, spending time with her family. Brooke married the love of her life and they had a daughter. Maycee was Brooke???s world and she loved every minee of being a mom. Brooke would want you to know that cancer didn???t get the upper hand; rather, it was simply her time to go home. Brooke had a love for Jesus and one of her favorite bible verses was Jeramiah 29:11 ??? For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.??? Brooke found her strength and hope ineesus and that???s who helped her surpass all medical odds and statics. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church, Durham. The family will receive friends an hour before the service. Brooke is survived by; her husband, Jason Lin Thompson, of Stem; a daughter, Maycee Brooke Thompson, of Stem; her mother and caregiver, Angela Fisher Cawthorne (Mike), of Stem; her father, Rick Hester( Linda) of Durham; paternal grandparents, Richard Hester (Joey) of Timberlake; in-laws, Kenny and Linda Thompson, of Stem; siblings, Greg Fisher( Kyla) of Butner, Ashley Hester, Chase Hester, Callie McKenee (Scott) all of Durham; niece and nephews, Madi & Will Fisher; a host of aunts, unees, cousins, and many friends. Special fur-baby, Shelby (aka: Bitty) at home. Brooke was predeceased by paternal grandmother, Ethel Hester, maternal grandparents, Roy and Lalah Chappell, and step-dad, Marvin Fisher.
