Brydie Shook Palmore was born on January 7, 1930, in Glenside, PA, to Tirzah and Clarence Shook. She had two older brothers, Richard aneellis Shook. After attending schools in Glenside, she entered Marion College and later the Richmond Professional Institute of William and Mary Uneersity where she studied fine arts. She married Robert Schaefer in 1950 and gave birth to three sons: Roger, Karl, and Tomas. She divorced Robert Schaefer in 1960 and married Erdman Palmore in 1963. They lived in Washington, DC, and Baltimore, MD, where they worked for the Social Security Administration. In 1967 they moved to Durham, NC, where Erdmaneecame a Professor of Medical Sociology and Brydie became an office maneer at the Duke Medical Center. Her avocation was as an artist. She became an accomplished oil and watercolor painter, copper eneellist, and did some weaving. Since 1965 she has been a leader of various Unitarian-Uneersalist coneegations, heading several church committees and becoming office maneer of the Eno River U-U Fellowship. She and her husband were Charter Members of the U-U Coneegation of Hillsborough, NC. She also has been a leader of several Neo-Pagan groups and became a Priestess of Isis around 2000. She is survived by her husband, Erdman, her three sons, Roger, Karl, and Tom, as well as her two step-daughters, Kareneeckerman and Julia Shaida. She also has nee grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by a host of friends and family. Brydie died on neember 4, 2017. There will be a green burial at the Pine Forest Memorial Gardens in Wake Forest and a Memorial Service at the U-U Coneegation of Hillsborough (UUCH) on neember 12 at 1:00. She requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made ineer honor to the UUCH Memorial Garden Fund.
