Byron Squirrel Jones

Byroneelson "Squirrel" Jones, 83, of Old Graham Road, Pittsboro, died June 25, 2008 at his residence. He was born in Alamance County on May 14, 1925, the son of Jasper Jones and Mellie Johnson Jones. He did logging work for years on the west coast, and most recently was a tree trimmer and cutter in the Chatham County area. Survivors include his children, Irving Jones and Rodney Jones of Oregon, and L'wana Jones Crone of Oklahoma; sister, Otelier McKenee of Pittsboro; brother, David Jones of Deep River; and several grandchildren. At Mr. Jones' request no formal ceremony will be conducted, however friends may visit with the family on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 - 4:30 pm at Griffin Funeral Service in Pittsboro.
