Carl Morganeezern, age 89, died Friday, March 8, at the Hock Family Pavilion. Born in Durham County on July 7, 1923, Carl was the son of the late John and Mamie Hicks Dezern. Carl proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and later worked as the golf pro at Willowhaven Country Club for 25 years before retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Professional Golfers Association PGA for 65 years. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Lois Lloyd Dezern of Durham; his sisters-in-law, Lella Dezern and Virginia Lloyd Johnson, both of Durham; his brothers-in-law, Dr. Robert Sugg and Vernon J. Lloyd, also of Durham and Harry L. Lloyd of Alpharetta, GA and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded ineeath by his brother, Jimmy Dezern and his sisters, Dot Sugg and Frances Parrish. Carl's funeral will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, from the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service in Durham. Burial with military honors will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
