Carter R. Evans, Jr., 81, of Oxford, NC died Monday, May 9, 2016. He was born September 26, 1934 in Warren County, NC to the late Susan Jackson Evans and Carter R. Evans, Sr. Carter was a great man who diligently worked to provide and care for his family. For some time, he was self-employed as a poultry farmer. At other times, he supplemented his farming by taking on the role of Mail Carrier for the US Postal Service. Eventually, after 30 years of dedicated service, he retired from the USPS. Carter was also an active member of New Horizons Baptist Church. Carter is survived by his wife, Ella Jean Evans of Oxford, NC; children, Maria Ford (Cam) of Oxford, NC; Debra Gay Martin (Jim) of Cary, NC; and Daryl Evans (Aimee) of Oxford, NC. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Dustin Evans, Cameron Ford, Dana Brannock (Lee) and Chase Perry; great grandson, Bradlee Evans; and many other loving family and friends. Family will receive friends on Thursday, May 12, 2016 from 1-2 pm at New Horizons Baptist Church, 3490 Sterl Carrington Rd, Oxford. Funeral Services will commence at 2 pm with Pastor Cam Ford and Pastor Dale Eatmon officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowview Memorial Park.
