Cary Newton Pickett

Cary Newton Pickett, age 88, passed away peacefully oneebruary 4, 2016 at Seasons of Southpoint in Durham. A native of Durham, he was the son of the late Wesley and Gladys Rigsbee Pickett. Cary served his country in the Uneed States Navy. Fishing, farming and gardening were some of Cary???s favorite things to do along with going to Emerald Isle. Cary worked for the Uneed States Postal Service in Durham for 32 years and was a member of Yates Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Betty Egerton Pickett; his daughters, Dawn Brown and her husband Scott of Wake Forest and Tracy Pickett of Durham; his brother, Page Pickett and his wife Alice of Wheatland, MO; and two grandchildren, Matthew Cary Brown and Lauren Elizabeth Brown. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, February 8, 2016 at Yates Baptist Church with Rev. John Frederick and Rev. Christopher Ingram officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Friends may visit from 1:00 ??? 2:00 PM Monday at Yates Baptist Church prior to the service.
