Charles Layton "Casey" Jones, 77, of the Laurels of Chatham and formerly of Highway 64 East, Pittsboro, died April 9, 2008 at UNC Hospital. Casey was born July 12, 1930 in Durham, the son of Layton Jones and Jessie Snees Jones. He retired from Chatham Mills following 42 years of service. Casey loved to fish, especially salt water fishing. He was a member of Columbus Lodge # 102 AF & AM of Pittsboro; and also was a member of Hanks Chapel Church. Survivors include his daughters, Kay Jones of Fayetteville, Dianne Culp of Gold Hill, and Ann Jones of Pittsboro; a son Danny Jones of Pittsboro; and five grandchildren, Carmen Culp Sargent, Natalie Culp Whitley, Melissa Culp, Adam Culp, and Jacob Jones. His wife, Wilma Goodman Jones, preceded him ineeath March 17, 2006. The service to celebrate Casey Jones' life will be held at 4:00 pm, Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Hanks Chapel Church. The Rev. Bob Wachs and The Rev. Ray Gooch will preside. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 7:00 - 9:00 pm Friday at Griffin Funeral Service in Pittsboro.
