Charles Washington Hamilton

Charles Washington Hamilton, 87, of Durham died Thursday, January 5, 2012. He was born in Lookout, WV to the late Charles Washington and Mahala Parrish Hamilton. Charles worked with Union Carbide Inc. for 32 years where he was a river boat dispatcher. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Charles loved playing with his grandchildren and western movies and stories. He was an avid golfer. He was a member of Durham Church of Christ, Creasy Proctor Masonic Lodge in Fayetteville and Southgate Chapter # 177 Order of the Eastern Star, Durham. Charles is survived by his daughter, Jo Ann H. Mac Queen of Durham; son, Douglas Allen Hamilton of Durham; sisters, Joan Taylor of Beckley, WV; Joy Thomas of Greenbank, WV; grandchildren, Sarah Showalter, Amy Jo Hamilton, Gregory Hamilton, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded ineeath by his wife of 53 years, Rosalie Jo Hamilton. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, January 9, 2012 from the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, Durham. Entombment will follow at Woodlawneemorial Park. Friends may visit from 1:00 2:00 PM Monday prior to the service.
