CHARLIE DAVID HOBGOOD OXFORD- Charlie David Hobgood, age 53 a resident of Oxford died Saturday, July 26, 2008. Mr. Hobgood was the son of Mary Leigh Newby Hobgood and the late Samuel C. "Bill" Hobgood, Jr. He retired from the N. C. National Guard, was a life member of the NC National Guard Association and was also a former employee of Polk Youth Center and the NCDCCPS. Mr. Hobgood was a member of Dexter Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 29, 2008 at 3:00 P. M. at the Dexter Baptist Church by the Rev. Neil Woodlief and Rev. Franeellington. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery. Surviving in addition to his mother, is his wife Yvonne "Dixie" Hutto Hobgood; four step-daughters, Patrice Moore of Wake Forest, Janet Begley of Youngsville, Valerie Spell of Kissimmee, Fl. and Beverly McFarland of Lexington, SC.; one step-son Jay McAbee of Oxford; three brothers, Samuel C. Hobgood, III of Oxford, Sterling Hobgood of Durham and Tim Hobgood of Butner; eight grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Monday night from 7:00 until 8:30 at the Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of Sam and Kay Hobgood, 2582 Hwy 158 W. Oxford, NC 27565. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association of NC, 2418 Blue Ridge Rd., Suite 206 Raleigh, NC 27607.
