Charlotte Corbin

Charlotte Corbin, 94, died on Friday, July 13, 2007. Charlotte was born in Danville, VA to the late George Wesley Corbin, Sr. and Lucy Lyon Corbin oneecember 3, 1912. Charlotte moved to Durham in 1928 at the age of fifteen and graduated from Durham High the following year in 1929. She theneent on to graduate from Duke Uneersity in 1935 with a Bachelor of Art degree with her major in elementary school education. She later joined the staff of Duke and worked many years for the Department of Public Relations and Alumni Affairs and from which she retired in 1977. From 1944 to 1963, she also worked together with her mother, Lucy Lyon Corbin, where she served as a hostess at the Uneersity House which was used for entertaining out of town guests as well as for Uneersity events. Charlotte has been a proud member of the Duke Memorial Uneed Methodist coneegation in Durham for almost 76 years. She joined the coneegation oneeptember 6, 1931.
