Charlotte Doak Henderson

DURHAM - Charlotte Doak Henderson passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Thursday April 16, 2015. She was born in Johnson City, TN on June 19, 1927 to Stanley and Nelllie (June) Doak, both now deceased. Charlotte was a 1944 graduate of Durham High School, and a 1946 graduate of Wingate College. She was employed with Employment Security Commission, Social Security Administration, and was a personnel interviewer with Wright Machinery Company. Most recently, she was President of Southeast Food Systems, Inc., parent company of The Dog House and Stuart???s Family Grille restaurants. Charlotte???s love for the Lord shown through her many decades of teaching Sunday school, as a member of Grace Baptist Church, the former Homestead Heights Baptist Church, aneebeneer Baptist Church. She had a smile for everyone she met, loved to laugh, and share her faith in Christ. Charlotte was known especially for her style, southern charm and lipstick. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Stuart Gordoneenderson, younger sister Joan Christine Doak, and younger brother Robert (Bobby) Alexander Doak. She is survived by her much loved daughters Joaneenderson Hall, Jessica Henderson Isaacs (Steve), grandson Judson Campbell Whiteside, beloved sister Linda Doak Mallory (William), their children David Mallory (Robin), Mark Mallory (Jean), Melinda Mallory Moody, brother-in-law Harold David Henderson, nephew Brian Rhodes (Gale) and several great-nieces and great-nephews. The family wishes to express their immense gratitude for the exceptional care given to Charlotte by Dr. James Hathorn, Katie Harrell, Lori Vaught, Nikki Murray and the team at Regional Cancer Center; Dr. Grace Kim and staff at Durham Regional Radiology; Bobbie, Sherry, Robin, Lawanda and Cathy of NurseCare of NC, for their enduring kineess and care; and Transitions Lifecare for their care and compassion. The family will receive visitors from 2-4pm on Sunday, April 19, at Hall Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 West Main Street, Durham, NC. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Monday, April 20, 2015 from the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service with the Rev. Earl Echols presiding. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Flowers are acceptable or memorials may be made to Ebeneer Baptist Church, 1210 Pleasant Green Road, Hillsborough, NC 27278 or a charity of one???s choice in honor of Charlotte.
