Cheryl Kelly

Durham – Cheryl Kelly, age 65, died in her home on June 5th. She was born on September 20th, 1957, to the late Houston and Ettie May Margaret Funk.

Cheryl had many successes in her Human Resources career, but the job she held closest to her heart was the time working as Human Resources Director at Carolina Meadows retirement community. She touched the lives of every resident, making connections that lasted far beyond her time there.

Cheryl loved riding horses and enjoyed years of Fox Hunting with the Red Mountain Hounds. She had a passion for taking care of animals, domesticated and wild.

Cheryl is survived by husband Mike Kelly, daughter Sarah Ray and husband Jason, granddaughters Sophie and Taylor Ray, and nieces Lisa Laws Byrd and Gina Laws Woody. Cheryl was preceded in death by her sisters Velma Laws,Ettie May Lyons and Della Rania.

A service in honor of Cheryl will be held on Saturday, June 10th, at 10:00am at Hall-Wynne Funeral Chapel, 1113 W. Main Street, Durham, NC.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 9:00 AM.
