Christie Cook West

April 27, 1972 — April 7, 2025

Oxford, NC

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Christie Faith Cook West, a cherished wife, devoted mother, beloved sister, treasured Grammy, and dedicated nurse, who unexpectedly left us on April 7, 2025, at the age of 52 in Granville County, North Carolina. Born on April 27, 1972, in Vance County, NC, Christie was a true beacon of love and compassion throughout her life.

Christie’s nurturing spirit shone brightly in her work as a nurse, where she gained a reputation as the best "PICC line" nurse around. Her excellent bedside manner made her not only a professional presence but a cherished companion to her patients and colleagues. With an unwavering dedication, Christie approached her career with joy, spreading her infectious laughter and vivacious energy to everyone around her. She earned her RN and BSN degrees, embodying her commitment to nursing and impacting countless lives along the way—an achievement she held dear to her heart.

Outside of her career, Christie found profound joy in caring for her cows, a passion that reflected her nurturing nature. Known for her caring, talkative, and animated personality, Christie was always ready with a listening ear or a warm laugh. Her love for family knew no bounds. She took immense pride in being a mother to her four lovely daughters. For Christie, her family was her world, and she poured her heart into every relationship, creating a legacy of love that will endure. She never met a stranger and would talk on the phone for hours.

Christie is survived by her loving husband, Jeffrey Scott West, and their four daughters, Jeana Sue Dement (Dicky), Caitlin Ann Hamrick (Scott), Kolbe Lyn Yarbrough (Logan), and Kadee Ann Thomas. She adored being Grammy to her granddaughter, Julia Cole Dement. Each of them will forever carry her spirit and memory in their hearts. She also held a special place in the lives of her nephew Jacob Cook, and nieces, Kyndall Cook and Kayla Cook. Christie shared a deep and meaningful bond with her beloved sisters, Cindy Cook (Gina) and Beth Cook (Mike), and she will be missed dearly by her special neighbors, Gary and Juanita Grissom, Renee Stancil, and Montrell Moss, who was like a son to her. The laughter and love they shared will never be forgotten. Christie also leaves behind her cherished furry companions, Benny, Bubba, and Betty Sue, along with many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.

Christie is preceded in death by her father, Thomas "TC" Cook, and her mother, Betty Jean Cole Cook, who instilled in her the compassion and values that defined her life. Their wonderful legacy of love and kindness lived on through her.

A visitation for Christie will be held on April 12, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home in Oxford, NC. Her funeral service will follow on April 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the chapel, with a burial at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery at 3:15 PM.

In memory of Christie, the family welcomes donations to the Granville Rural Volunteer Fire Department or the Granville County Shriners, honoring her unwavering support for first responders and the important work of the Shriners.

Though Christie Faith Cook West has departed this world, her spirit has touched the lives of so many in ways words can scarcely express. Her sudden and profound loss is deeply felt, but her light will continue to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate to know her.
