Hillsborough, NC – Christine Elizabeth Greenwood, age 69, died in her home on Wednesday, August 16. She was born on September 16, 1953, to the late James J. Master Jr., and Marie D. Master.
Christine was a loving wife and mother who dedicated herself to her family. While raising two young children with husband William, she returned to college later in life to earn her Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Rowan University. She went on to attain her certified public accountant (CPA) and certified municipal finance officer (CMFO) licenses, becoming one of the first women to serve as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of West Deptford, NJ. She retired in October 2018 and moved to Hillsborough, NC, in March 2019.
Christine lived a life of love and humor, always quick with a joke to cheer up those around her. She valued nothing more than spending time with her family and was surrounded by love as she passed. Christine was an inspiration to those who knew her, facing life’s challenges with courage and her “Best for the Moment” mindset. She was generous with her support, compassion, and words of encouragement. Christine cherished making memories with loved ones, from Friday nights together on the back porch to celebrating holidays, hosting family gatherings, and exploring the world on family vacations.
A devoted Philadelphia sports fan, Christine was grateful for the opportunity to watch the Phillies, Eagles, Sixers, and Flyers compete for championships alongside her loved ones. She also loved to be outdoors, whether visiting her happy place of Stowe, VT; in her backyard, where she planted a thriving lavender garden; or on her favorite local hiking trails, where she enjoyed long walks with her family and their dogs Maddie and May.
Christine is survived by her husband William Greenwood, son William Greenwood Jr. and wife Adrienne, daughter Laura Kieler and husband Curtis, siblings Joseph (Louise) Master, Marie Maloney, Timothy (Lee) Master, Lawrence (Nancy) Master, Therese (Chuck) Master, Aunt Claire Bauman, and dear friend Kelley Dempsey.
