Christine Riggsbee Herndon

Mrs. Christine R. Herndon, 96, peacefully passed away Sunday night, March 22, 2015 at The Laurels of Chatham, while surrounded by her loving family. A funeral will be held graveside at 11:00am, Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Bynum UMC Cemetery in Pittsboro, NC with the Reverend Donald Shields officiating. Mrs. Christine Herndon was born July 11, 1918 in Chatham County, NC to the late Joseph Talton Riggsbee aneemmie Clark Riggsbee. She is survived by her sons, Billy Joe Herndon and Jeff T. Herndon; her grandchildren, Tony Herndon, Robin Smith and Paul Haines; her great-grandchildren, Tyler Herndon, T.J. Herndon and Terri Lynne; her great-great-granddaughters, Kahlei and Morgan; and her sister, Maxine Whitaker along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Herndon was preceded ineeath by her husband, Ben Layton; her daughter, Kay Haines; her sister, Gretcheneerkins; and her brother, Clyde Riggsbee and J.T. Riggsbee.
