Cornelia Ann Adcock

May 12, 1937 — April 1, 2021

Mrs. Cornelia Hunt Adcock of Oxford passed away peacefully at her home on April 1,
2021 at the age of 83, surrounded by her loving family. Cornelia, a native of Granville County,
was the daughter of the late Walter William and Annie Hoyle Hunt. She retired from the
Granville County Schools Administrative Office after thirty-five years of service. A lifelong
member of Enon Baptist Church, she served in many capacities over her years there, including
being chairman of the flower committee, preparing and printing the bulletins, and singing in the
choir.
Cornelia is survived by her husband of sixty-five years Edward (Buck) Adcock, daughter
Gail Adcock Jackson (David) of Goldsboro, sons Michael Edward Adcock (Bess) of Oxford and David Hunt Adcock (Leigh Ann) of Roxboro. She leaves eight beloved grandchildren--Meagan Jones, Nathan Adcock, Brandon Jones, Brittany Jones, Sarah Adcock Wilson (Chris), Josh Adcock, Adam Adcock, and Luke Adcock--who have many fond memories of their “NeNe.”

Cornelia was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Annie Hunt, and sisters Louise Hunt Strickland and Helen Hunt Williams.

Cornelia graduated as salutatorian from Berea High School, where she played
basketball. She also graduated from Fullers Business School in Oxford, N.C. In addition to
working with Granville County Schools, Cornelia was owner and operator of Tarheel Arabians,
the culmination of her lifelong love of horses. Horseback riding was a passion, as she spent
many joyful hours riding from childhood until she was in her sixties.

Visitation will be Monday, April 5th, from 12:30 until 2:00 in the Enon Baptist Church
sanctuary, followed by a graveside service with Reverend Steve Brown and Reverend James C.

Shelley, Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Enon Baptist Church may be sent to

Adcock, Brandon Jones, Josh Adcock, Adam Adcock, Luke Adcock, and Evan Powell.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Rogers and Community Home Health Care and
