Craven Blythe Bass, 83, died on Friday, December 26, 2008. Craven was born in Lucama, NC to the late Zilphia and Jonathan Bass oneeptember 4, 1925. Craven was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Navy in the South Pacific. Following his time with the Navy, he was employed by Kroger as a produce maneer for many years. He was a heritage member of Orange Uneed Methodist Church. He was well known for his love of UNC sports and animals. Craven most enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandsons, Patrick and Aneew. Craven is survived by his daughter Terri Jones and her husband Jeff of Pinehurst, NC; grandson Patrick Jones and his wife Shannon and grandson Aneew Jones. He is also survived by his beloved pets, Lance, Sophie, Maxx and Jager. Craven was preceded ineeath by his wife Julia and son Fredrick. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 30th, 12:00 PM at Orange Uneed Methodist Church, 1220 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Chapel Hill. Reverend Aneew Keck will officiate. Burial will follow in Orange Uneed Methodist Church Cemetery. A reception will be held in the Fellowship Hall after services. Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may also be sent to Orange Uneed Methodist Church, 1220 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Chapel Hill, NC 27514.
