Cyrus Frank Franklin Rawls

RALEIGH Cyrus Franklin Rawls, 67, of Raleigh passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Duke Uneersity Medical Center in Durham. Frank was a graduate of the class of 1965 at Jacksonville High School and the Charlotte Business School. Following graduationee worked for the National Center for Health Statistics, where he retired after 36 years. Following retirement he worked in the Wake County School System as a substitute teacher. He was an active member of Highland Uneed Methodist Church in Raleigh. He was a former member of the Raleigh Jaycees and was also a member of the Rams Club, a season ticket holder and avid Tar Heels fan. He could be counted on to be at Keenan Stadium cheering on the Heels. Frank will be remembered for his smile, his willineess ineelping others and his devotion to his family and friends. He was preceded ineeath by his parents, Cyrus Franklin Rawls, Sr. and Mildred Pelletier Rawls, and his son, John Cyrus "Cy" Rawls. Surviving are: his wife, of 41 years, Susaneerrell Rawls of Raleigh; a sister, Elaine Rawls of Cape Carteret; cousins, Sam A. Starling and family of Raleigh and New York, Jeremiah P. Starling and family of Raleigh and New York, and Jeanette S. McIlwean and family of Rocky Mount and Wilmington. Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Highland Uneed Methodist Church, 1901 Ridge Rd., Raleigh. Graveside services will be held 3:30 p.m. Friday at Jacksonville City Cemetery in Jacksonville, NC. Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to Duke Cancer Center, 20 Duke Clinic Circle, Durham, NC 27710 or to the Library Fund at Highland Uneed Methodist Church, 1901 Ridge Rd., Raleigh, NC 27607.
