David Norman Long, Jr., 31, died at home unexpectedly Friday. A Durham native, he was born March 20, 1981 to David N. "Crockett" Long and Anne S. Long. A 1999 graduate of Jordan High School and the Hill Center, David attended Lees-McRae College and UNC-Wilmington. He worked for several years as a marketing representative with Fiji Water Co. ineelray Beach, FL prior to retuning to Durham in 2012 whenee joined CVS as a pharmacy technician. David will be remembered for his big heart, infectious warmth and his love of family and friends. His caring soul always saw the best in everyone he met. David loved and cared for all unconditionally. Surviving are his mother, Anne Satterfield Long of Durham and father, David "Crockett" Long of Raleigh; his sister, Robin Castillo and husband, Steve, of Fort Worth, TX; nieces, Bailey, Anne Marsh and Davie Castillo; aunts and unees, Linda James, Mary Beth and Frank Arcioulo, Anita Long Shore, Joy Long, Rodney Long , Donald Long and William Strickland, and Thomas Long and Stewart Woodard; his cousins, Megan James, Tracy Willis, Corie Latta, Macey Long, Erin Shore and Bradley Shore. He was predeceased by his unee, James A. Long and aunt, Mary Anne Long. David's funeral will be 1:30 PM Wednesday from the Church of the Good Shepherd, with the Rev. Dr. David A. Bowen officiating. Burial will follow in Old Maplewood Cemetery. Friends may visit 5:30-8:30 PM Tuesday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Rodney Long, Tommy Long, Donald Long, Steve Castillo, Matt Chilausky, Will Harrington, Don Shea, Bradley Shore , Chris Valauri and Guy Whilden. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Long Beverage Inc. Gifts in David's memory may be made to the American Diabetes Assn. or Duke Children's Hospital, c/o Jim Valvano Kids Klassic.
