Dominic Julius Chiantera, age 82, died at home on November 12, 2021 after declining health. Dom was born on June 10, 1939 to the late Louise Chiantera Rotello and John C. Chiantera.
Dom served in the US Navy for 4 years. After his service in the Navy, Dom attended college and received degrees in Electronics, Electrical Engineering and his Juris Doctorate as well as a M.S.in Management and M.B.A. in Business. Dom worked for UTC in Hartford, CT for 25 years and was the Deputy Patent Counsel before moving to North Carolina where he entered into private practice as a partner in the Intellectual Property Department of Moore & Van Allen. He was admitted to the Massachusetts,Connecticut and North Carolina bars as well as the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and received the highest national rating of AV from his peers.
Dom is survived by his wife Kay Mangum Chiantera, his children Michael Chiantera (Michelle), Jackie Cohen (Jay) and John Chiantera (Carrie), his brother John R. Chiantera, grandchildren Emma Cohen, Giada Chiantera, Nathan and Cameron Chiantera, step children Jana Hough, Susan Pinardi, and Christopher Woller, nieces Tammy Bader & Terry Johnson, nephew John E. Chiantera and 5 step grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthew Catholic Church.
