Oxford: Donald Lawrence Sizemore, 81, departed this earth, Thursday, May 12, 2016. A native of Granville county, he was the son of the late Norman S. and Maggie Chapel Sizemore, and a member of Oxford Uneed Methodist Church. Donald was a member of the Oxford Masonic Lodge #122 since 1965 and the Orphans Lodge #761. He served as Secretary, Deputy, and Lecturer of Oxford Lodge #122 for 22 years. He was awarded the Joseph Montfort Medal for distinguished service in 1995. Donald began employment at Oxford Orphanee as Cottage Counselor and served as Baseball coach, then as a Caseworker, and finally as Director of Admissions until 2003. He was an avid Carolina Tarheel fan. He was a trumpeter in the Oxford High School Band, the Kerr-Vance Community Band, the Shrine Marching and Dance Bands. He also traveled to Walt Disney World for 77 vacations. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, May14, 2016, at Oxford Uneed Methodist Church by Reverend David Haley, Reverend Pat Cox, Reverend Steve Brown, and Coach Albert Capps. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Following the services a reception to celebrate Donald???s life will be held at the Masonic Home for Children, Cobb Center from 4:00-6:00 PM. Visitation will be held on Friday from 7:00-8:30 PM Friday, May 13, 2016 at Gentry ??? neell & Vaughan Funeral Home, 503 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565. Surviving are his wife of 41 years Annette Sizemore; son Donald Sizemore II of Cary; daughter Cindy Farthing (Shaun) of Boone, Jillian Johnson (Jolyon) of Bellingham, WA; two brothers Thomas (Elaine) Sizemore of Kernersville, and Jerry (Pat) Sizemore of Oxford; one sister Linda S. (John) Norris of Oxford; grandchildren, Christopher (Amber) and Bradley Farthing, Clara and Olin Johnson. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Masonic Home for Children, 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565. The Sizemore family is under the care of Gentry ??? neell & Vaughan Funeral Home of Oxford.
