CHAPEL HILL - Donald Louis Tiedeman passed away suddenly on Tuesday, neember 22, 2016. Don was born in East St. Louis, IL on October 1, 1936 to Louis and Lucille Tiedeman. He is survived by Sue (Keagle) Tiedeman, his wife of 57 years; four daughters Wendy Cawley and husband Jon, Kristin Tiedeman and husband Jerry, Karyn Magee and husband Tony, and Leslie Tiedeman; nee grandchildren; and his brother, David and wife Carol of Bluffton, SC. After graduating from the Uneersity of Illinois on a Navy scholarship, Doneerved as a Naval officer from 1958-1962. He subsequently worked for 35 years at AT&T in a number of different assignments including operations, personnel and finance. His last teneears at AT&T were spent as the Vice President and CIO of the Consumer Business Unit. Uponeetiring from AT&T, Don worked for Fujitsu Consulting as Vice President and Senior Consultant. Don and Sue moved to Chapel Hill, NC in 2001 where Doneenerously voluneered his time for 15 years as a Senior Consultant with Executive Service Corps. He also served on the board of multiple non-profits providing his expertise with strategic planning. His love of travel took Sue and Don on many adventures across the globe. Don was also an avid tennis player and maneed a tennis group of twelve cantankerous senior (or old) men from Chapel Hill Country Club for many years. They greatly appreciated his efforts. He was also a charter member of a men???s book club. Whenee wasn???t traveling, or playing tennis, he was helping Sue in the garden or reading about four books a week. Don was a member of Saint Thomas More Catholic Church of Chapel Hill. In lieu of flowers, contributions canee sent to Catholic Charities of Durham, Freedom House or The Arc of Orange. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, neember 28th at 2:00 pm at Uneersity Presbyterian Church at 209 East Franklin Street, Chapel Hill, NC.
