Doris Bobbitt Fulton, age 87, died Friday, July 2, 2010 at Durham Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family. A Durham native, Doris was born on June 23, 1923 to the late Frank Branson and Zula Weaver Bobbitt. She was a graduate of Durham High School and a member of First Baptist Church in Durham. Doris was a homemaker, a floral designer for Sanders' Florist for many years, and served as the senior administrative assistant to the maneer at Sears in Northgate Mall during the early years when the mall first opened. She was an avid golfer and a longtime member of the Duke Women's Golf Association. Doris was one of the early organeers of the annual Watts-Hillandale Fourth of July Parade, and lived in the Watts-Hillandale neighborhood for over 60 years. Doris is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Irvin G. Fulton of Durham, NC; her daughters, Ann Scott Fulton of Raleigh, NC and Amy Fulton Clayton of Hurdle Mills, NC; her son, Gordon Fulton and wife, Susie, of Pleasant Garden, NC; her brother, Norman Bobbitt and sister, Phyllis Croom; four grandchildren, Matthew Scott Fulton, Kristy Clapsaddle, Erin Clayton Burnette and Scott Clayton; and one great granddaughter, Reagan Marie Clapsaddle. Doris is also survived by neerous beloved nieces and nephews, and by a number of close Sunday School friends and attentive neighbors. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the inspired and loving care of Dr. Lawrence Crawford, Dr. Gretchen Kimmick, and Dr. Douglas Tyler of Duke Uneersity Medical Center, and to the caring staff at Durham Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 6, 2010 from the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service. The Reverend Andy Winn of First Baptist Church will preside. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home, 1113 W. Main St. in Durham.
