Doris Crouse Adams

Virginia Doris Crouse Adams passed away gently surrounded by family Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at her home in Durham, N.C. She was 93. Originally from Thomasville and a graduate of Appalachian State Uneersity, Doris moved to Durham in 1950 to teach home economics at Durham High School. She was married to Rod Adams of Adams Coneete for forty years before his death in 1994. An active member of Duke Memorial Methodist Church and Home Economists of NC, Doris was a gracious hostess who delighted ineer role as wife and mother of two. Grandchildren loved ???Honey??? and always enjoyed playing at her house. Ineecent years, one granddaughter and three fellow educators lived with Doris. These twenty-something-year-olds brought much laughter, life aneenergy to Doris in the ???Honey Hut,??? as they affectioneely called her home. Doris is survived by her son, Roderick Dhue Adams Jr, his wife Jane and their four children, as well as her daughter Meredith Adams Buckner and her husband Mike. Doris was predeceased in 2011 by her granddaughter and neesake Virginia ???Ginny??? Lee Buckner. Following a private burial on Sunday, December 10, the family will welcome visitors in the home of Rick and Jane from 4 ??? 6 pm at 3740 St. Marks Road, Durham. Many thanks to all who helped make Doris???s last years pleasant ones.
