Doris Poole Watkins

OXFORD/RALEIGH Doris Poole Watkins, age 96, a resident of Springmoor's Stewart Health Center died June 4, 2009. She was born in Virgilina, VA on July 4, 1912. She was the daughter of the late Charles Grey Poole and Mae Gregory Poole. She attended St. Mary's Jr. College and UNCG, she then taught at the Uneersity of Alabama. After her marriage to Joseph Adams Watkins they lived in Oxford, NC. She was an active member of Oxford Uneed Methodist Church until moving to Springmoor. She is survived by her daughters, Jo Averett and husband Dan of Raleigh and Doris Lambeth and husband Charles of Charlotte; four grandchildren Anna A. Harris of Wilmington, Catherine A. Long and husband Darryl of Charlotte; Ellen Lambeth of Charlotte; and Perrin L. Gibson and husbaneeric of Charlotte; six great-grandchildren; neerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded ineeath by four siblings, J. Gregory Poole, Charles G. Poole, Jr., Thomas A. Poole, and Nell Poole Wall. Graveside services will be held Sat. June 6, 2009 at 2:00 PM from Virgilina Cemetery, Virgilina, VA by the Rev. Phylis Mayo. They will receive friends following the graveside service. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Staff of Springmoor aneespecially those of the Stewart Health Center for the care she received.
