Doris Riley Ondek

Durham ??? Mrs. Doris Riley Ondek was born in Omaha, Nebraska oneeptember 22, 1922 and she died on January 10, 2017 at Duke Uneersity Hospital. Doris spent her youth living in Omaha, NE and San Francisco, CA. She graduated from Benson High School in Omaha, after which she moved back to San Francisco where she was employed as a secretary at Spreckels Sugar Company. In 1946, she married John, the love of her life, and moved across the country to Pittsburgh, PA where she resided for 46 years. While raising her two children, keeping an impeccable home, and maintaining an active social schedule, she also supported her husband???s small business by completing clerical work. During retirement, Doris traveled throughout the world with John, refined her sewing skills, and doted oneer family. In 1992, she and John moved to the Forest at Duke in Durham, NC. Doris is survived by her granddaughter, Karen Attwood, and her husband, Brian of Cary, NC; great grandchildren, Mae aneerich Attwood; son-in-law, Ronald Zawoysky, of Clifton Park, NY; and her daughter, Janet E. Ondek of Washington DC. She was preceded ineeath by her husband, John; daughter, Barbara Jean Ondek Zawoysky; and her parents, Mabel Wood and John Thomas Riley. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service.?? Officiating will be Rev. Charlie McNeill.?? Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.?? The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service, from 1-2pm in the funeral home, 1113 W. Main Street in Durham.
