Doris Scarborough Lee

Ella Doris “Dottie” Scarborough Lee, age 89, passed away on July 5 at her residence. She was born on June 20, 1932 to the late Jack Scarborough and Lena (Doris) Misenheimer in Long Beach, California.

Dottie was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. She worked at Duke University in a variety of roles retiring after 43 years of service in 1994. She spent the first part of her retirement in Myrtle Beach and picked up the hobby of painting porcelain before returning back home to Durham to spend time with her family.

Dottie is survived by her son, Larry Lyon Lee (Bonnie), her grandchildren, Whitney (Casey) Granata, Timothy, Justin, Stephanie, and Trent, and her great-grandson Banks Granata. Dottie was preceded in death by her husband, Lucas Lyon Lee Jr, and her son Michael Calvin Lee.

The family has already held a private graveside memorial in honor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
